Who is Arno Rocher?
Apart from the last name bearing resemblance to my favorite chocolate brand, Arno Rocher is a newly christened Cebuano. Yes, barely weeks in the island and he has been enamored.
“I want to share”. These are the words of Arno Rocher, an artist from Nantes, France on his take on his first exhibition in Cebu. Arno Rocher, also known as Anoo, Arnould, or Ano by many Cebuanos, has been spending the past two months sponging up everything the island has been offering him.
From jeepney adventures on routes 62B, 13B, and 21A, to random meetings with Cebuanos offering a shot of “tagay” or a glass of Manny O’s wine, Arno has been inspired. His inspiration that stems from the “mysterious system” of the Cebuano culture underpins the theme of his exhibition: “Cebuano Ballads through the eyes of the visitor”. After having his usual exhibitions in Paris, Nantes, and Barcelona, Arno would now want to share something with you. Sights, sounds, tastes, smell, and feelings familiar to us Cebuanos captured in pallets of illustrations and paintings, by our visitor.
Celebrate this distinctly Cebuano moment through the eyes of Arno Rocher, his paintings and illustrations, on March 9, Wednesday, at the 2nd level of LXX (LUXX) located at VUDU, Cebu’s definitive night lifestyle institution at the Crossroads, Banilad, Cebu City. No cover charge. Doors open at 6pm.
