Guess who was more overwhelmed? Joven or reymond?

It’s the original Korean fried chicken secret. “The flavor is definitely unique,” says Scott Tan. “But I’ve added a Filipino twist to it. The Philippine branches have the most extensive menu compared to its international branches. The owner of Bonchon New York gave us the liberty to tweak our menu.”

“Try the chapchae. Its flavorful. It started in the Philippines. Even the fish.”

Its seafood offerings began as local seasonal offerings that have become popular items on the local menu: the brand’s take on the English classic of fish and chips, crispy squid rice, and the raved-about fish taco which was inspired by the California food truck mishmash of Korean and Mexican. As a sweet ending to a BonChon meal, BonChon’s Ko-Yo (or Korean Yogurt) strikes the perfect balance among tart, sweet, cool, and creamy – served in alternating layers with homebaked graham pie crust, and offered in Blueberry Torte and Banoffee Pie variants.

Cebuanos have Steven Alain Yu (below with Scott Tan) and Pinky Yu of Avalon Scion Foods Corporation to thank for bringing BonChon Chicken to the Queen City of the South.  This young, food-loving, and passionate entrepreneur couple runs a burgeoning group of companies and aims to showcase Cebu as a premier destination in the country.  With their success in managing their roster of global brands, the couple now boldly ventures into the food business as they bring to Cebu the global cult phenomenon that is BonChon.

Service in Bon Chon Ayala Cebu is extremely slow.. We ordered just 4 box meals and were told that we have to wait 15minutes. 15 minutes seemed just fine so we said okay. But then it took one freaking hour for them to serve our food!! A lot of other guests experienced the same. So if you’re not willing to wait an hour for your food to be served, I recommend you to NOT eat here.

Hi jen! Sorry about your experience. Which Bonchon branch is this?

  • Ben

Apparently this is normal, several times i have gone for a meal and had to wait what was surely an excess of time – the chicken is great but the wait is some what too long.
