The Lapu-Lapu City auditorium hasn’t seen this much excitement and energy since last November 22 when the Search for Mr. Lapu-Lapu 2011 candidates were officially introduced to the public on their Pre-Pageant Night. Having proven their mettle in the dynamic city, sixteen men in their early 20s will be competing in this six-month long competition that will culminate on April 2011. Produced by The StyleFirm, who is spearheaded by Dexter Alazas and his Marketing team Jon Enriquez and Yves Camingue, the Lapu-Lapu City government, Councilor Queenie Amman and Michael Ybañez, this search will dispel the reputation of being “just another beauty pageant.” Through events and programs, candidates will be enriched with the arts, become involved in environmental issues, learn and have the opportunity to participate in sports and fitness programs, and most importantly, social awareness
The Top 16 candidates are Jiri Dinsay, Marc De Asis, Edwin Ayo, Edgar Jugadora, Alexander Lopez, Ron Mina, George Ambrosino, Pocholo Enriquez, Jan Mateo, Loreniel Tequin, Jose Cleopas, Patrick Grandl, Rydell Quiblat, Jesse Cortes, and Jumar Bilocura.
Judges from the pre-pageant night were Sharon Angel, Agnes Huettel, Mary Love Deen, Teresita Saavedra Schaap, Vice Mayor of Larena Siquijor Ronie Villa, and Han Kintanar. Jose Cleopas bagged Best in Hero Costume Award while Best in Resort Wear was given to Rashed Al-Sughayer. Styled by Cebu fashion designer Phillip Tampus, The Best in Barong awards went to Alexander Lopez who also won AD Models Award with Rashed Al-Sughayer and Jumar Bilocura.
