Imaging leader Canon will hold free photography classes for compact camera and camcorder users in 10 malls and schools across the country starting Saturday, May 14, 2011 called Photoskwela. It will offer workshops on basic and advanced photography, scrapbook making and videography to Canon camera users end with an activity where participants will apply what they learned.

Photoskwela starts at SM North Edsa Annex on May 14 and 15, followed by SM Southmall and SM City Naga on May 21 and 22, SM Megamall on May 28 and 29 and SM Manila on June 4 and 5. Then it will go to Sarrosa Hotel Cebu on June 11 and 12, Apo View Hotel in Davao on June 17 and 18, SM Bacolod and SM Pampanga on June 25 and 26 and UP Diliman on July 2 and 3.

“This travelling workshop is one of Canon’s initiatives to educate users on how to maximize their Canon cameras,” said Bong Serevo, Vice-president Canon Marketing Philippines, Inc.

He said Photoskwela lectures will be led by some of the country’s top photographers which include Philippine Center for Creative Imaging founder Jun Miranda, commercial photographer and lecturer Jo Avila, veteran food photographer Mark Floro, wedding photography specialist Pilar Tuason, scrapbook artist Carmel Carpio and events videographer Troy Monsod, among others.

Aside from the lectures, participants who bought a Canon compact camera from May 1 to July 2, 2011 will be entitled to an exclusive photography contest with a brand new EOS 1100D DSLR camera and automatic registration to the much-awaited Canon PhotoMarathon as top prize.

Participants can also avail of free photo printing and camera cleaning. Onlookers can view the printed works of participants through an interactive wall display or polish their photography skills using the various subjects Canon will set up Limited slots are allotted per class. Participants only need to bring their Canon cameras and valid IDs on the day of the workshop. I’m so excited I cannot wait for my next holiday!
