The new Chiye Mori Design Library has moved from Mango to the 856 G Gallery, AS Fortuna Street, Mandaue City and Cebu Design Education Foundation (CDEF) will be holding another Design Speak lecture series tomorrow, July 21, at 6pm.
Dubbed “Design Speak: Abaca, Wild Fiber,” the free lecture is designed to benefit design students and young designers in Cebu. Francis Dravigny, expert on abaca as a material for design, will be the resource speaker. Dravigny studied art history and jewelry design in Paris where he founded a jewelry company in 1978. His main client was Cartier, Fred and Van Clef. He ventured into furniture and furniture accessory design in 1991 and sold items for William Sonoma, Neiman Marcus, Lafayette, Lane Crawford and others.
Design Speak is regularly conducted by CDEF, a non-stock non-profit organization formed by Cebu-based designers like Kenneth Cobonpue, Butch Carungay and Annie Chen.
The Chiye Mori Design Library has a collection of close to a thousand of books, journals and magazines on architecture, home furniture, fashion and multimedia. Chiye Mori Design library is open from Monday to Friday, 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Those interested to join the lecture may call 344-3039. Don’t forget to sign up!
