Perhaps it is Fish18’s tagline, “Fashion. Graphics. Culture” that sums up the brand’s design philosophy. Or their ode to street fashion. But if it had been in the works for two years, Loalde Group made certain that their newest venture at the Northwing of SM City Cebu offers fashionable and trend-setting clothing and accessories for both men and women.
It did not disappoint. I dub Fish18 as the creators of the tshirt revolution! And 3D shirts at that.
The Loalde Group’s President, Chris Aldeguer says, “We wanted to have a lifestyle specialty retail store that would cater to people who wanted to be unique and extraordinary. The idea was to create products that are not too safe and conventional but certainly wearable. We felt that this was lacking in the market and that we could fill that niche.” His wife Nia adds, “Fish18 is primarily for people who appreciate style. It’s not about age. It’s for anyone of any age who likes to have fun with fashion.”
Despite a plethora of retail stores available in the market, Fish18 brings something new to the table. Firstly, it is a retail concept store. From its playful interiors to its creative merchandise display, shopping at Fish18 is designed to be an overall experience.
Secondly, in a society that has had to make do with mass produced goods, Fish18 sets itself apart.
Nia Aldeguer, Creative Director of The Loalde Group, shares, “We are not about mass production. We aim to create novelty pieces. For example, some of our pieces use recycled vintage fabrics from the 70’s and 80’s, which we found in the Loalde archives. We also play with mix media treatments, incorporating appliqués, customized buttons, patchworks, pins, etc. into our pieces. There is a unique touch to each of our products.” (from their press release)

Fish18 definitely brings something new to your usual fashion picks. Not only you are transported into time as you get inside their store with vintage tendencies but also you’d suddenly have this sheer temptation of coming up with something creative when you leave Fish18. Now that is one perfect example of a lasting impression.
Fish18 is located at the 2/F SM City Cebu Northwing and will open at the Block in SM North Edsa in Feb. 2011. For inquiries, call 032-346-5543 local 116, email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit Fish18.com for more details. Thanks to Cybill Gayatin of ALIST Events and Alex Luna for the invite.
