Cheers to summer and having an excuse to be in a bikini in this 100 degree Philippine weather! The group just got back from Bantayan Island last weekend and was very much amazed with the huge crowd that populated the island. If Sugar Beach was infested, how much more the rest of the bigger islands in the Philippines?
One thing I noticed though is that some women’s swimwear style’s are outdated and too generic (besides my friends, yes, I am partial like that). Unfortunately, Cebu hardly has the venue to indulge in our swimwear fetishes. When my friend Paula said she has a swimwear fetish, I’m just glad to help out on which swimwear designers in Cebu she can actually consider buying from to add to her swimwear collection.
Take here for example, Innuendo Swim of swimwear designer Peachy Clamor. So far, they have The Shameless Collection and The Ragged Collection in their list. The team behind Innuendo plans to include bringing out a new collection, as well as a line of swimsuit cover-ups and beach dresses. Overwhelming, isn’t it? Learn more about Innuendo below.
When did Innuendo Swim start?
Innuendo started as early as June 2009, but ‘officially’, we launched November 2009 . (Check out the photos below that are randomly selected and are some of the writer’s favorite)
Why Innuendo Swim?
We go to the beach a lot, so we’ve amassed quite a huge collection of swimwear. Most are quite expensive (Billabong, Roxy, etc.), while the cheaper ones are quite tacky and common. Peachy had all these ideas of swimsuits that she wanted, but we couldn’t find anyone who could do them reasonably. That’s when she started planning and studying how to make ’em.
We decided on the Innuendo brand name because there’s something very ‘teasing’ about innuendos, and I guess you could say that swimsuits are the biggest innuendos of all!
We included the SWIM part of the brand because when we started out, we also sold shoes and made dresses, though we’ve given those up now and concentrated on beachwear.
What is your target market?
Basically, sexy and confident ladies who love the sun, sand and sea as much as we do, but who (1) have their own specific ideas about how their swimsuits should look like, yet can’t find them from the ‘usual’ stores, (2) want suits that are unique, and (3) are on a budget.
Where can we purchase Innuendo besides the places you mentioned?
Chris & Berns and Bare to Wear, both in The Maze
Chick Flick in BF Homes, Paranaque
BLISS store in Lim Ket Kai, CDO

How old is the swimwear designer in Cebu?
Does she have design background, etc, or in design school?
When she decided to start Innuendo, she had a private teacher who taught her how to cut and sew clothes, as well as use all sorts of sewing machines during the weekends. Her teacher did not know a thing about making swimsuits, so that part, Peachy had to learn for herself. She researched, practiced, and found out what worked and what didn’t all on her own. Eventually, we hired people, who she trained personally.
Where does she usually draw inspiration from?
Usually stuff that she would – or wants to – wear herself, as well as what her clients want. For special collections, she often looks at what’s currently trendy and popular within the fashion industry [in general], and finds a way to translate these to swimsuits.
