Do you know last Monday, May 31, was the hottest day ever in the history of Cebu since 31 years? The last time Cebu experienced a heat wave was in the summer of 1979 when the temperature reached about 36.6 degrees Celsius. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday’s temperature reached a record high of 37 degrees Celsius. I don’t know about you but two minutes of walking under the sun felt like an hour on the treadmill. Nice segue, yes? Eventually, I might get around to saying that one of the essentials my makeup bag would be requiring of its presence is a jar of either petroleum jelly or a pot of lip balm such as this one.

Yeah, yeah, a bit pricey for a lip balm when you could always go with The Body Shop’s Born Lippy lip balm and pay 50% less. The difference with the MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner is that not only it has SPF 15 for sun protection but it is creamier and more hydrating than the former. You will love this if you want something whose emollient properties are between a lipstick and chapstick. You would love the screw top container too with its black matte lid and clear pot. I got this baby again at the Hongkong International Airport Duty Free (which I hear that it is cheaper) for HKD$125 or P860++. Maybe it is the vanilla scent or the creamy texture but I swear MAC placed some dependency drug on it because my lips doesn’t feel the same without it. Fuchsia fix is a nice shade also because for those on the go moments when you need to fix yourself, the tint could almost pass as a soft pink color on your lippy and no one would be the wiser. It is nice to put on lipstick after applying the balm and knowing that the conditioner and the SPF is working on your lips at the same time. I got a tip from my male friends, too. They say that it is sexier when a woman applies lip balm on her lips with her pinkie finger. Agree or disagree? The pinkie finger does get you the right amount of balm anyway – not too much, not too little – and still look sexy!
Let’s see how the MAC Tinted Conditioner compares with the cult essential the Kiehl’s lip balm. Again, that is going to be another story. Would you say you’d purchase this for yourself?
MAC Cosmetics and the MAC Tinted Lip Conditioner is not yet available in Cebu but MAC Cosmetics Cebu will be available on November 2011. Other shades are Petting Pink, Gentle Coral, Soothing Beige and Plum Perfect.
