This month, Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa, Cebu reshapes love stories from special to extraordinary with Of Veils and Trails, an elegant wedding fair designed to enrich all tales of romance on Saturday, 29 March 2014. Affairs of the heart have always been quite alluring: from first impressions and shy dates to that dreamy glide down the aisle and those pivotal “I Do’s.”
Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa, Cebu’s Of Veils and Trails begins with personally guided tours around the resort’s most sought-after wedding venues: the Swarovski- detailed Mactan Ballroom, the ivory draped The Marquee, the glass enclosed Ocean Pavilion, the scenic Ocean Terraces and the pristine beachfront. Enticing culinary exhibits come into play at each stop as couples sample tasty nibbles selected from the resort’s wedding menus. A visit to the deluxe Bridal Suite with its panoramic view of the Mactan Channel’s cerulean waters will also be featured.
A 60-minute confab at The Marquee follows the savory affair. Executed in speed- dating style, the interactive dialogue aims to acquaint couples with Cebu’s top wedding specialists. More hours to freely consult with the city’s finest florists, hair and make- up stylists, pastry artists, decor providers, printers, photographers, videographers, and lights and sound experts follow thereafter.
We got the chance to talk to the organizers of the bridal fair last week and it turns out that this was their first bridal show in Cebu after 7 years! Heralded by Cebu’s top wedding planners such as Tita Teresing Mendesona, Stanz Catalan and Pinky Chang of Pink Flora Flowers, the Of Veils and Trails Bridal Fair will consolidate all wedding suppliers in our booth. Top Cebu fashion designers Jun Escario and Philip Rodriguez were also present to regal us with stories of the bridal industry.
“Everything is possible,” says Stanz Catalan who has had coordinated several weddings that always leave everyone talking after. She said every wedding is different yet will always find a way to cater to the couple’s wishes. She even remembered bringing a horse instead of an elephant for a special Indian wedding she handled. Sourcing for items that are required for cultural processes might be challenging but then she always manages to set expectations.
“We are definitely going to love for this to be an annual thing!” says Mildred Amon, the Marketing Communications Director of Shangri-La Mactan.
Floodlights will illuminate The Marquee at dusk as sophistication takes center stage in the unveiling of exquisite bridal couture by Cebu’s fashion artisans. The graceful sashay down the catwalk will highlight exclusive creations by the members of the Fashion Council of Cebu such as Jun Escario, Mary Ty, Albert Arriba, Edwin Ao, Myrna Cebrecus, Cary Santiago, Protacio Empaces, Arcy Gayatin, Oj Hofer, William Manahan, Yvonne Quisumbing, Philip Tampus, Marichu Tan and Philip Rodriguez.
Created to inspire the engaged and designed for beautiful beginnings, participation in the Of Veils and Trails wedding fair is complimentary for both in-house and walk-in guests. Courtesy shuttle service from the city is also available to and from the resort at predetermined schedules.
