Following the kick off of Puma’s Archive Uncovered concert series live in Cebu with the awesome performance of rock heroes Pupil last May 23 and the dynamic musical stylings of the alternative band Imago last June26, Cebu was once again shaken awake by band sensation Up Dharma Down and indie group Sleepwalk Circus last Saturday July 3.
With the incredible vocals and keyboard playing of Armi Millare backed up with Paul Yap on bass, Carlos Tanada on lead guitar and Ean Mayor on drums, Up Dharma Down gave in to the crowd favorites from their sophomore album Bipolar like “Taya” and “Sana” as well as past singles like “Oo”.
The show was opened by indie band from the same label called Sleepwalk Circus, composed on Fran Lorenzo on lead vocals, Peavey Nicolas on lead guitar, Laurie Maravilla on bass and Miggy Abesamis from Musical O on drums, in place of Jeric de la Cruz. They have just released their debut album “The Great Secret Show” and performed singles from the album like “Flies are Falling.”
Up Dharma Down and Sleepwalk Circus, together with Pupil, Imago and Drip, are Puma’s ambassadors of music and lifestyle. These bands wear stuff from the Puma Archive collection.
The PUMA Archive collection is a commemoration of storied styles. The most notorious models like the Puma Clyde and The Suede were designed at memorable junctions in time. Each is a reaction to an athlete who brilliantly synced the space between sport and style— plus an artist whose patterns never cease to play hard.
The Puma Archive are re-issues Puma’s classics as well as creations of new designs that break all the molds. PUMA Archive products come with stories and roots that situate them in a grander game—they’re style with significant substance.
The Archive Uncovered event was derived from this context – bringing back the classic songs but in new renditions of today’s artists. The event was a take-off from Puma’s successful gig last September 2009 in Magnet High Street where 5 bands performed versions of classic rock songs. This season, Puma gives a chance for the music loving people of Cebu to experience this cool event. Visit the Puma Store nearest you for more information about the concert series. Who knows, the next concert series might be in your town!
Watch out for the next Archive Uncovered concert in August with Drip. The Archive Uncovered concert series is produced in cooperation with Ayala Center Cebu.
