What a joy it was to see Oj Hofer and Jun Escario again. Always awestruck to be with masters of design. And Mia Arcenas is such a darling as always. Mikey, you are always such as delight! Thanks Zee and Ayala for inviting moi to be part of Zee Lifestyle Magazine’s talk on fashion from 15 years ’til the present. Posting an excerpt of the article that I wrote for PhilStar:
When free markets in the old times entail designating these vendors in Arabized or Muslim cities weekly, Ayala Malls modernized the growing concept of trendy marketplaces with this year’s Style Souk. Last June 21, Thursday, until the 24th, Ayala Center’s Activity center was transformed into a shopping haven where sought-after merchants significantly dropped their prices and offered huge discounts to Ayala shoppers.
This year’s Style Souk housed fashion and beauty brands such as LAVA, NIMA, Skechers, Collage, Oxygen, MEMO, WAGW, Rustan’s Beauty, Cebu designer Philip Rodriguez Filippo and one-stop shopping hub, Maze. Each set up shop in the Activity Center while a fitting room stood in the middle for everyone’s convenience. Although it was more than just a shopping event, local bands Euphoria, The Chosen Few, and Music and Strings performed from Thursday to Saturday, respectively.
Saturday was all about looking at local Philippine fashion through the lens of Zee Lifestyle Magazine presided by Fashion Editor, Oj Hofer, Cebu fashion designer Jun Escario, and Mia Arecenas, Trends Editor of Zee Lifestyle. While they dissected the magazine’s favorite fashion editorials since 1996 and 2001, they also got to trade ideas about trends and shopping with Pinky Gabutan from Rustan’s and LAVA’s Caroline Malagar. .
Please keep posted for Style Souk 2012 on a separate post. Toodles!
