You would begin to wonder why in the world will I buy a hair product to enhance curls when I also maintain a straight look with this straightening balm. This brings us to the conclusion that because I do not want to have my hair rebonded (yet, relax!) it is very likely that I might also want my curly haired days. Maybe it was just right that I bought TRESemme’s Flawless Curls Curl-Definition Jelly together with TRESemme’s Straightening Balm to hit two shopping sprees in one day.

TRESemme Curl Definition Jelly

How It Works (from their site)
To create defined, natural curls that bounce (and we mean bounce!), coat damp hair with this curl-enhancing gel.
Its humidity-resistance formula controls frizz for healthy-looking styles (minus crunchiness).
Plus, its alcohol-free formula won’t dry out or flatten the hair.
Its holding polymers lock curls into place for the tight curls you crave, while its proteins hydrate and tame flyaways.
weird texture-a slightly porous, not really gel, not really creme type of consistency

How to Apply

Squeeze a quarter sized dollop
Scrunch towel-dried hair into place with your fingers.
Used a wide-toothed pick comb to distribute the product even further
Best used a blow dryer with a diffuser to further the effect

It comes in an elegant black bottle, subtly trimmed with spring/avocado green fonts and design. The opening has a pull top where you squeeze the contents out. The contents are a thick, opaque white gel with a light to medium flowery scent. It takes a bit of pressure to squeeze the product out, but it easily thins to a nice consistency once you begin to work it around in your hands.

The Jelly wasn’t quite as good when used alone, but still not bad. I saw that Tresseme has the Curl Hydration Lotion Cream for good separation and definition that should have gone along with product but unfortunately, it is not available. How could you maintain a product that needs more products to make it work? You are probably off mixing water, petroleum jelly and baby oil and TRESemme wouldn’t even notice.

How to curl and straighten hair

Longevity-wise, I’d probably say it will hold your curl even during the after party. See the back of my hair above?  Yes, I know it is absolutely unattractive which is why I have yet to find a curling gel that will still hold even after the after party! TRESemme Flawless Curls Curl-Definition Jelly was also gunky on my hair and maybe it’s the heat or humidity but it looked very heavy. Also, the perfumey fragrance lingered too much for my taste. I feel like I am not or my hair texture is not the the target market for whom this product was developed.

Rating: 2 Stars out of 5

Or should I go to the road frequently travelled by rebonding aficionados and jump into the bandwagon? We’ll see.
