There is something about Kim Kardashian and how she sets trends. When she declared ‘velvet’ to be this season’s must-have, there were a lot of tongue wagging collections that just couldn’t resist but employ a lot of the fabric.

How plush is life with velvet when Burberry, Gucci, Giorgio Armani and Lanvin showed us it is time to buy this lush fabric especially when it has been a few seasons since we have indulged in it. Appearing in rich jewel tones, there are certainly a lot of places where we can have velvet made into everything from pantsuits to prom dresses, gowns, cocktail dresses, tops, and evening dresses.

Does it mean velvet is always a yes for every body type? Petites (like me) might not be ideal to wear all those bulkiness but touches – yes! Like this outfit for example. We, the family, the boyfriend and I, were in Manila for the weekend to celebrate our birthdays and partied in Opus on a Saturday Night (by the way, I love Opus!!).

Sorry for the photo quality of the iPhone but I love how this velvet skirt just made my non-existent waist full! [Can’t wait to tell you more about this clutch from NIMA L.A., too! The store is located at the 2/F Ayala Center Cebu and houses evening bags that shine and shimmer. Bling is an understatement at this place. More of that soon!]

Perhaps I’ll be adding more richness and depth to my wardrobe with fabulous hues and jewel tones like sapphire, ruby and emerald soon. Pretty and timeless! Toodles.
