Throwback-inspired restaurants have been popping left and right in the city but this one takes it up a notch higher with its interiors and food that emulate American luncheonettes in the 40s and 50s.

Luncheonette is the latest addition of the Abacá Group’s ever expanding empire, which includes Abacá Restaurant; Abacá Boutique Resort; Maya Mexican Restaurant; Tavolata, an Italian trattoria; Phat Pho, a Vietnamese noodle shop; and Beqaa, a Middle Eastern kitchen.

The restaurant will surely make you feel nostalgic as it features old school American diner-inspired interiors – bar-stool seating that accommodates 16 people and industrial overhead fluorescent lighting, painted in a retro shade of mint green. All these are configured around an open kitchen where the food comes out, fresh and piping hot.

Just barely six months after the restaurant group opened the Abacá Baking Company (ABC) in Crossroads Mall, the Abacá Group introduces another must-try restaurant for those who want no-nonsense comfort food.

“Luncheonette is a spin-off of the Abacá Baking Company. We felt that there was an opportunity for us with another restaurant in Cybergate, where our guests can take out sandwiches for a quick lunch or for relatives in Chong Hua or the other surrounding businesses,” said Jason Hyatt, the founder of the Abacá Group.

Spam, Cheese & Egg Sandwich

While the Abacá Group’s restaurants offer a diverse range of cuisines, Luncheonette serves good, straightforward American fare. With all-day-breakfast items such as corned beef hash, spam & eggs, and fluffy pancakes to hot sandwiches like the Reuben and the Patty Melt, a combination of a burger and a grilled cheese sandwich. If you’re looking for a casual place for a quick lunch, Luncheonette is a no-brainer choice.

While the service may be fast, each order is still carefully prepared and made only with premium ingredients – a proof of the Abacá Group’s promise of quality to its customers.

Luncheonette is on the ground of floor of Robinson’s Cybergate, Don Gil Garcia Street, Capitol Site, Cebu City. It is open daily during mall hours, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
